Hi there!

I read your post as saying you want to install a carbureted 350 in your '96. If that's not true, please let us know.

The '96 transmission will require the PCM (computer) be connected and working (meaning, all of the engine sensors, etc. connected as well) *or* it will require a separate standalone transmission controller. If you're going with a carb. the first option is out and your left with the second (expensive) option. It may be better to find a TH700-R4 or TH350 to use instead.

HI there!

Yes, the stock transmission will bolt up. It won't *shift* without the computer. The computer controls both the engine and the transmission in your '96.

Personally, I'd get an 88-93 700-R4 and re-build it with some of the performance upgrades that can be found around the net. Especialy the input sun shell. Super notorious for going out. If you can afford it, Monster Transmissions has a couple of different kits to get a 700-R4 to stand up to just about anything you can throw at it.

Well, you're going to need to find some way of getting your guages to work, unless you swap to stand alone guages.

We are also going to install alum intake and new car and I would be tickled with the new motor if it made between 300-350 hp and which should not be a problem with aluminum intake... Free Movies

Lets see...

1: Engine Mounts (available with most swap kits)
2: Headers (available with most swap kits)
3: Non computer controlled Transmission
4: Guages
5: Cooling. Radiator upgrades may be required, as well as replacing the stock fan with an e-fan, and possible mounting it as a "pushing" fan setup.
6: Upgrading the rear axle may be required as the stock S-series axles are not designed for alot of torque being applied to them.

You may also need to upgrade you fuel pump, but it's usualy not required.
