ECM Tuning

Postby kd4pbs » Sat Feb 28, 2004 2:03 am

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but...

I've a '95 4.3L Blazer that I just purchased. I would like to apply my knowledge of ECM tuning that I've learned from my '84 Corvette to "play with" this OBD1 equipped ECM. I had to go through the trouble of "hacking" my Corvette ECM (ripping the maskROM out of the ECM, disassembling it, commenting the ECM code to find out what it does, and then mapping the calibration ROM addresses and tables from this information). This has taken at least 2 years to do, and I'm not totally done with it. I know the OBD1 ECMs are probably 10 times more complicated than the '84 ECM, so I don't want to go through this again! While replacing some parts in the dash, I had to have a quick look at the Blazer ECM, and noticed a familiar EPROM sitting in a not familiar carrier of some sort. I will assume this is the calibration ROM. Has anyone stumbled across a hack for this ECM and maybe a winbin or tunercat definition file so that I can start experimenting?

Are you signed up for the GM-ecm email list? If not that would be the first place I would look.

92SonomaST: Had not checked that site - I'm sure that most of my info is for the older ECMs; that site appears to be geared more toward the newer ECMs - I'll have fun perusing that site. Thanks!

I think I'm just "feeling around" here to see if there's any S10-centric info that anyone might know about.

I have not found many efi tuning sites targeted to S trucks.

I found thru efi-tuning a lot of info on older ecm's. You have to sort of check everything out.

they also have a forum, ya gotta joint it though, site with specifics for different types of efi. The guy that runs the site appears to be a mega digit head hacker gearhead.

Another site for some info is www.cfmtech.com. They have a couple of good write ups on how thngs function.

I too, am collecting data for use. I have built an ALDL box. I need to use 12 volts from the truck for it to work, my laptop will not power it.
